One aspect of the torpedoing of Boris by Gove and his missis, Sarah Vine, is this line in her email to hubby:
Crucially, the membership will not have the necessary reassurance to back Boris, neither will Dacre/Murdoch, who instinctively dislike Boris … (My emphasis.)
Its matter of fact reference to the king-making, agenda setting power of our billionaire press has excited no comment. Is that because so much else is happening? Or because we take such deeply corrosive power for granted as a fact of life that’s literally unremarkable?
