On the whole I eschew sarcasm in my writing. Less because it’s said to be the lowest form of wit; more because of the dangers of being taken at face value. Then again, never say never.

Seems to me you were a model of restraint there, Philip. All you did was bring out the (unintentional) sacasm in the original. You do tend to wonder if concerned people like Karen actually read what they write.
