Why do I and many of my fellow Britons intend to break the law thirteen days from now, by gathering in London on August 9 to display placards like these?
No, not the one held up dead centre by a lone genocide apologist, but all the others in London (main picture) and (top right insert) outside Truro cathedral? Oh, and the one (top left insert, a Private Eye front page for which the publishers have not been arrested) which busted a retired headmaster in Leeds. War crimes enthusiast excepted, all placard bearers depicted have been arrested but so far not charged for the newly created offence of supporting a non violent direct action group opposed to their government’s active complicity in the crime of the century.
Here with as good an answer as any of the many I’ve seen this week, is former chief of UN aid agency, UNRWA – defunded, recall, by most Western governments when Israel charged its aid workers in Gaza, as usual without a shred of evidence, of having taken part in the Hamas led breakout of October 7, 2023.
My one quibble over an otherwise flawless account by Chris Gunness is his attribution of “our” support for this horror show to the Israel lobby. That’s true as far as it goes but fails to make a point critical to understanding the Faustian Pact the West made, and daily renews, with the self avowed Jewish State. No one should doubt the power of the lobby but, and this is the point, no one should doubt either that this power derives in the last analysis from the alignment, for reasons given here and here, of US deep state agendas with those of a Greater Israel.
… but except on issues of material import – as when engaging antisemitic critics of Israel on the one hand; on the other those who, thinking the war on Syria driven by humanitarianism, failed to see that Israel and the US were its prime beneficiaries – this is a difference between friends.
