Russia’s UN Envoy roasts Kaja Kallas

15 Apr
In a highly confrontational address to the UN Security Council, Russian Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia accused the European Union and foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas of deliberately escalating the Ukraine conflict and preparing for a major war with Moscow. Dismissing European diplomatic efforts as hypocritical, Nebenzia alleged that the EU is funneling weapons to extremists, engaging in systemic corruption, and transitioning into a “new Reich.” The fiery rhetoric underscores deepening geopolitical fractures between Russia and the West, raising fresh alarms over global security and the collapse of international mediation efforts.

I’ll start with two video clips, each a shade over thirty seconds. 1

Anyone recall EC President Ursula von der Leyen’s assurance, early in America’s prosecution (with European leaders fully in tow to the detriment of their own citizens and for reasons examined here) of its proxy war in Ukraine? Russia is so backward, she told us, that they are cannibalising refrigerators and washing machines for chips to repurpose in military hardware.

Or the breath-taking ignorance of Russia-hawk Kaja Kallas, Estonia’s erstwhile prime minister, now EU Minister for Foreign Affairs, of the price paid – exceeding, at tens of millions of deaths in combat, half the total on all sides – by Russia and China for victory in WW2?

Bear these things, and the mediocrity of national leaders like Starmer, Macron and Merze, in mind as you watch Kallas sit stone-faced at the UN two days ago as the Russian Permanent Representative, Vassily Nebenzia, delivers a point by point takedown of Europe’s hypocrisy.

  1. Next day update. The second video clip, of Kaja Kallas’s “breath-taking ignorance”, has repeatedly failed so I’ve switched to a report on the incident by the UK’s right-leaning Telegraph.

  1. Re Note 1 – presumably even your computer couldn’t cope with the breathtaking depth and width of Kallas’s ignorance – you’ll need to buy more RAM!

Maybe the next song of the day should be ‘Stuck in the Middle with You’.
